Be Careful of Work from Home Scams

by Carlie Evie

Have you just found a great work at home opportunity? These days, many people are looking for the very same thing. It's one way for single parents to stay at home and be with the kids. It's also a way for people to get some extra money for things they need, or maybe presents for the holidays. But you want to protect yourself and make sure this is a legitimate opportunity, not yet another one of those work from home scams.

Yes, people will find a way to try and steal your money no matter what. They don't care if you're trying to raise a family and need the extra cash. What they care about is getting your money, and they'll keep doing it. It's up to you to learn whether or not this opportunity isn't just some way for a lazy, deceitful person to pad their wallets with extra money. Since you don't want to fall into these traps, here are some tips to help you avoid both new and old work from home scams.

- Don't believe anyone who says you will be able to earn a ton of money from home. Usually, these will say something like, 'Earn $10,000 a month from home for doing nothing.' No matter how convincing they sound, they're rip-offs. Sure, you can make money from home. But like any other job, it takes work.

- Do your best to get some references. Get some opinions from people who took up the offer. Find out how it works and if they are satisfied with it.

- Beware the companies who only send out materials in exchange for your money, leaving you to hunt around for your own customers.

- Don't believe the 'envelope stuffing schemes.' It is one of the oldest work from home scams there is. When you hand over your money, they just give you some instructions for placing an ad remarkably like the one that caught your attention, enabling you to take other people's money.

Above all, use your common sense to sniff out and avoid these work from home scams. Don't believe a company that doesn't allow you to speak with a person, or doesn't give out a real phone number or address. Don't send these people your hard earned money. Find out the truth about scams and protect yourself.
