How to Plan a Wedding Yourself by Making Homemade Wedding Favors
Even if you have to have a wedding on a budget, it doesn't need to LOOK like one. Nobody has to see whether you cut corners. One of the easiest ways to achieve this is with well-done homemade wedding favors.
At most weddings, it's expected that guests will have something to leave with. Often, this is just a token remembrance of the day. It's not as hard as you think to make them by hand. Also, you have the option of making something useful for each guest
The craft store is the first place you want to start. Most of these places have an aisle or two dedicated to wedding things, including favors. Spending some time browsing these aisles may just spark an idea or two. Below are several suggestions of homemade wedding favors.
Candles - Buy some flower-shaped floating white candles by the boxful. Buy some ribbons that match the colors of your wedding and tie them in a bow around the candles. Add a faux flower. You can attach tiny cards that thank each guest for coming to your wedding.
Potpourri - Shop around for some small containers that will go well with the theme of your wedding. Fill each container with potpourri, which you can buy in large bags.
Photos and frames - Often, you can find large amounts of small, cheap wooden frames (wallet-sized, 3x5, or 4x6). You can decorate these frames with paint, or even dress them up with lace, beads, ribbons, fake flowers, and other craft items. You can put a picture of you and your fiance in the frames.
Close friends and family may keep that photo in the frame when they get home, while more distantly related guests can choose to replace the photo with one of their own.
When it comes to homemade wedding favors, these are just a few ideas out of hundreds to start with. By the way, if a trip to the craft store doesn't get any ideas going, spend some time browsing the internet. You should find dozens of ideas this way.
