Budget Weddings - Create a Beautiful Wedding on a Small Budget

by Coreen Christobel

If you're like many people, you want the gorgeous wedding without the staggeringly high price tag that goes with it. Well, most of us do. However, 'budget weddings' don't usually stay within budget. There are a lot of ways to avoid stepping on one of those financial minefields that explode the cost of your wedding. Here are just a few.

Don't Hire Unnecessary People:

You can have music at your wedding without having to surrender thousands of dollars to a performer or a band. Here's another option: Make a bunch of CDs with all your favorite music, then have a friend or family member play them for you. It works especially well if you have a CD player with a large disk changer. This little trick and others can save you at least $1000, if not more. This is one way to pull off cheap weddings.

Keep it Smaller:

No matter how tempting it is to invite everyone you ever knew, as well as all their friends and family, STOP! Keep the wedding small and only invite your very best friends. And your family too, of course. Don't add to the list by including anyone else. Ask everyone you do invite to please not bring extra guests. Stick with the people you invite only. This saves you from the worry and expense of having to bring in enough food to feed everyone.

Think About Food:

Food can cost a lot of money, adding up to a huge wedding expense. Don't bring in a bunch of fancy food that most of your guests can't even pronounce. Instead of a professional catering service, why not have a potluck wedding? Or you can do little hors d'oeuvres; get some friends to help with that. Budget weddings can be beautiful, and you are able to keep your head above water. Who wants to start off married life with debt to pay off?
