New England Clambake Greatest Eating Experience
A fantastic way to cook fresh seafood including lobster, mussels, crab, clams and even quahogs is a New England clambake. In this dish, seafood is usually accompanied by sausage, potatoes, onions, carrots, corn or other vegetables. A New England Clambake is frequently prepared to celebrate special occasions all along the New England coastline.
If you wish to prepare a New England Clambake, start by locating kelp and other natural sea plants. When placed appropriately, seaweed acts as a conduit for heating. If you will not be using the things you have collected immediately, have a large cooler on hand to store what you have gathered with enough salt water. If you have not done this before, you will also need to collect rocks of appropriate shape and size. Those can be taken with you and reused in the future.
A cover is absolutely necessary to cook by steaming. This allows the heat to be trapped so that steam can completely cook the food. Products that work as covers for steaming food are often canvas tarps or potato sacks soaked in water. These methods allow air to escape so that the food can be more thoroughly cooked.
Steaming is a great way to cook mollusks, because you will not overcook them even though some mollusks need to cook for longer periods of time than others. Steaming also allows food to cook slowly while all the different flavors blend harmoniously. As a rule of thumb, squid needs more time to cook than fish does, and fish need to be cooked longer than shrimp. By using the steaming method, you can put all the foods in at the same time, and they will all get done without overcooking some of them.
It is best to use fresh seafood. This will give you the most appetizing bake. A New England Clambake and a Cape Cod Clambake are pretty similar. You will use the same seafood and vegetables. The two clambakes also have the same cooking methods.
Many believe that there is nothing tastier than a clambake and whilst I may argue about people's tastes, I cannot disagree with a clambake being amongst the greatest dishes a seafood lover will ever experience.
Fresh Seafood, including lobster, crab, mussels, clams, and quahogs are cooked at the New England Clambake. This event barely differs from the Cape Cod Clambake. Both clambakes use very similar ingredients. The classic recipe starts with gathering seaweed along the shore. You will also need several round stones, medium in size, to be heated in the pit. A cover is absolutely necessary to cook by steaming. When you cook using steam, it causes the juices of each individual ingredient to mingle as they collectively heat. What results is a grouping of tastes that cannot be achieved through any other means.
