Head Lice: A Primer In Treatment Of Head Lice

It is common to find head lice in children who go to daycare centers or school. These are transfered from the children to adults. A person having lice should not be look down as it is something, which is very common and might happen to anyone in a person's life.

Head lice are highly contagious. It can spread through indirect and direct contact. When one person in the family has lice it will spread quickly through the family if left untreated. Lice can live up to three days with out any human host, they will live on your hats, furniture and clothing until someone comes in contact with that item and then will have to deal with lice themselves.

Taking steps to prevent head lice is imperative. Most preschools and daycare centers keep the children's hats and coats in a spot where they will not come into contact with another child's garments. You most also look at sporting equipment, especially protective headgear; lice can be transmitted easily from one head to another.

Most people have heard of home remedies to get rid of head lice, but doctors recommend that you should use over the counter products to treat lice. These products are left on the head for certain amount of time, and then washed out. Then you must comb all the nits out with a fine-toothed comb to get rid of them.

You can use organic treatment against louse. In addition to using a special purpose organically-produced shampoo, you can also find ways to eliminate lice while avoiding smelly chemical treatments prescribed by doctors. For example, you might try and soak your hair all night in some type of oil to in effect, smother the little devils.

The lice which appear in one type of hair are quite separate from pubic lice. Since the bugs are different, they must be managed in a unique manner. Keep in mind that the presence of lice in one place is not indicative of an infestation elsewhere.
