Getting rid of Acne Scars and Blemishes Naturally

by Grace Empson

Many people are in search of natural methods to combat acne scars and other marks left by acne. Fortunately, there are some methods that can be used to eradicate these unsightly blemishes left behind by acne.

The bright side behind natural home remedies for acne blemishes is that you will not have to purchase expensive products and most of the ingredients are readily available in your kitchen. The two negative aspects of home remedies are that the effects can take longer to notice and they can vary greatly from individual to individual. Patience and consistency are key factors when you choose to try out natural remedies for acne scar removal.

Natural Acne Scar Removal

Before trying any natural home remedy for acne scars and marks, make sure to wash your face with warm water. Always test out the product on a small area of skin to make sure that it does not produce irritation or an allergic reaction. Also remember that all of the following remedies can be diluted with water to produce a gentler mixture.

Garlic

Garlic is on of those wonder foods that seem to be good for all kinds of ailments. In this case it has also been used to treat acne scars. Nevertheless, if you choose to use garlic, take care to rinse the product off immediately if you feel any burning sensation.

To use the garlic, finely grate one clove of garlic and mix it with two tablespoons of water. Massage the paste directly to the effected area. The garlic will exfoliate the skin and remove a layer of scar tissue, so do not leave it on for more than five minutes.

Because of the garlic's irritating properties, always apply aloe vera directly to the affected area right after you have rinsed off the paste. The aloe vera will hydrate your skin and provide protection without further irritation.

Lemons and Tomatoes

Both lemons and tomatoes contain high amounts of citric acid which has been shown to have excellent cleansing and rejuvenating properties. They have been used for years in natural skin treatments. Tomatoes, in particular, are known to inhibit the production of sebum because of their high Vitamin A content.

When you use lemon juice, just squeeze a tablespoon of juice. Apply the lemon juice to the affected area with a cotton ball. Remove the juice after ten minutes using a mild cleanser.

Tomato juice can be also be applied directly to the skin with a cotton ball. Rinse of the juice after ten minutes.

It is always best to use fresh natural products. Their canned versions contain preservatives and additives that might be harmful to your skin or might inhibit the full effect of the natural components.

There are several other natural and inexpensive ways to treat acne scarring. Remember the results of natural scar treatment can vary from person to person. With consistency and patience, you will see how your mild acne scars and pimple marks fade with natural home remedies.
