White noise generators and sound masked environment for peace of mind - A cubicle dwellers dream

by Frank Barnett

When at work or even at home, a quiet environment can be a very productive one. Usually when in need of concentration and focus to complete a report or need to meet a deadline, the most productive person is the one in a proper working environment. However, if the environment is not conducive to productivity, the creative process is impaired, making even the simplest of task a chore. This wastes time and time is a very important resource. So it is important that we are able to keep our focus and distractions to a minimum.

Distractions are natural occurrences in any environment, when a person needs to accomplish a certain task, it is imperative that a serene working environment is available. However, this becomes difficult when sound is the cause of the distraction. When we hear a funny joke or a noisy keyboard in the background, our focus wanes and we are distracted. This is where white noise generators and sound masking comes in handy!

White noise generators and sound masking is the technology that discreetly tunes out background noises that may prove to be a distraction by altering the ambient sounds locally heard by office workers and cubicle dwellers. By introducing white noise into the environment, it tunes out the other sounds heard in the space it is applied. White noise is commonly used by for song recording purposes when sound levels must be at their highest and most acute, but another application is the drowning out of other distracting noises in the area.

Sound masking is a different approach entirely, by pumping in a different ambient sound in any environment; the current ambient sound can be tuned out. There are special properties involved that make it effective, but for the layman, it simply means to hide a distracting sound with a different sound. An example is how in a dark room when a flash light is lit the light from the flashlight will immediately stand out. However if you take the same flashlight and light it in a room with multiple light sources the effect is dramatically decreased. This is what it means to mask sound, by using a different sound source; the distraction caused by the prominent ambient sound is drowned out.

There are new technologies that make the most out of white noise generators and sound masking; in fact, there are even cases in which both are combined to completely block out unwanted sounds. However, no matter what the approach, the effect can be greatly felt. The noises that may prove distracting can be drowned out creating a more relaxed and serene working environment.

So the next time you feel like your office is a bit too noisy and distracting for comfort, then these tools would greatly help everyone work more efficiently. After all, the productivity of everyone is going to greatly benefit the overall company output.

White noise generators are an office employee's best friend especially when an ambient sound in your workplace distracts you from getting the job done. You know the usual office chatter, keyboard tapping and the mouse clicking; can surely veer you away from concentrating on your work. Sound masking also helps as it supersedes the distracting sound with another ambient sound that is more conducive to get the job done.
