Learn about Adult Acne Skin Care

by Grace Empson

Most people will automatically think about their teenage years when they hear someone talk about acne. However, acne is quite common in adults as well. And sadly enough, adult acne is often more difficult to treat than its teenage equivalent.

Most of the time adult acne is related to hormonal fluctuations. Although the right cleansing routine is essential, hormonal therapy is also a very effective type of treatment. Here is a quick peek at the different alternatives adults have when treating their acne skin.

Acne Remedies: Skin Care Products

You may feel a bit uncomfortable when you're an adult that's looking for the right acne skin care products. But keep in mind that adult acne isn't that different from teenage acne and can be treated with the same types of products. This should make it a bit easier.

Acne responds quite well to salicylic acid and retinol, two ingredients that are known to help regulate the production of sebum. They can also eliminate it from the surface of the skin.

Benzoyl peroxide is another ingredient that is very effective against acne, however, it can irritate sensitive skin. If you have extra dry or sensitive skin you can use more moisturizer to counteract the stinging effect or you can switch to tea tree oil.

AHAs are also a great way to treat acne because they are known to help exfoliate the skin and remove excess sebum, dead cells, debris, and bacteria. This helps decrease the chances of clogged pores and acne breakouts.

Along with choosing the most effective products, anyone that suffers from adult acne should also worry about finding the right adult acne skin care to help keep their skin acne free. Remember to cleanse, tone and/or exfoliate, and moisturize. This basic routine should be enough to help treat most cases of mild to moderate acne.

Oftentimes doctors will prescribe antibiotics or Accutane. If this is your case, then make sure to consult with your doctor about the possible side effects these medications can cause. Accutane, especially, can cause severe problems.

Acne Remedy: Treating Acne with Hormone Therapy

If your cleansing routine and OTC products are not giving you the expected results, then it's probably time time to ask about hormone therapy. There are a couple of options you can try to maintain your acne problem under control. These options inhibit the production of certain hormones.

If you are a woman, then birth control pills are a common way of treating hormonal acne. They center their efforts on reducing the levels of testosterone in the body. Another form of hormone theraphy are DHT inhibitors.

Recently, studies have shown that a person's ability to convert testosterone into DHT has a direct effect on the appearance of acne. By inhibiting DHT you can help reduce the risk of acne outbreaks.

Proper adult acne treatment is quite simple if you choose the right products. BIOSKINFORTE is a potent skin care cream that can help clear acne naturally due to its unique combination of biological ingredients; while other natural products, such as BIOSKINCARE, are an effective acne scars treatment that can help treat unsightly blemishes.
