Stretch Marks Need not be a Problem Anymore

by Jen Hopkins

Stretch marks differ from regular scars as they are very hard to prevent. And even though you try your best to prevent them from forming there are still instances that they will still form. Some may even form during puberty, when you were still not conscious about your body so there was really no way that you could prevent them from forming.

In addition to being hard to prevent, stretch marks are also harder to get rid off than regular scars. This is because they form on the dermal layer of the skin. When the skin stretches past its limit, this layer is the one damage thus healing will cause scars to form in this area. In this position, these scars are also much harder to remove as you have to go through the upper layer of the skin before you can reach the scar.

Since there is a high demand for procedures that can get rid of scars and other blemishes on the skin, many ways have been developed to get rid of them. One of the most popular methods is through the use of scar removal creams. It is popular as this method is very easy to do and is not very expensive. Since stretch marks are also considered as scars, a lot of people have resorted to using these on their marks as well.

In some way, scar removal creams may work in lightening stretch marks but that is it. Using creams that are specifically made for such marks may be a better idea as they target the cells beneath the surface of the skin. This way, there is a better chance that the underlying scars are removed and younger cells will be able to replace older ones that occupy the scar.

Even though creams are the most popular choice when it comes to eliminating scars, they are not really the most effective. One of the best ways to get rid of scars is by laser treatments. These work by burning away the scar tissue left on the skin so that they may be replaced by newer cells.

Microdermabrasion and cosmetic surgeries are also effective ways of completely removing any scar. Similar to laser treatment, these two procedures also work by completely removing the scar. Microdermabrasion uses mechanical or chemical means to remove the scar, while cosmetic surgery also takes out the scar tissue left behind similar to laser treatments.

There are also home remedies that you can try if these procedures are too expensive for you. You can try applying creams such as cocoa butter to help moisturize and increase your skin's elasticity. Using Vitamins A and E on your skin is also a practice done by a lot of people. Lastly, massaging may also help in breaking down scar tissue before it becomes permanent.

Stretch marks may be hard to prevent but their have been many ways developed as to how to remove them from your skin. You can choose to just lighten your scars through the use of creams and other home remedies, or you can also choose to undergo treatments so that they can be completely removed from your skin.
