Dry and Oily Skin: Proper Skin Care and Acne Products

by Valerie Garner

Healthy skin is not just about looking good. Our skin is the largest organ in our body and protects us from bacteria and infection. When our skin is affected by some type of skin problem, it becomes susceptible to all kinds of dangers.

Finding the best skin care will depend on properly identifying your type of skin. There are three basic types of skin, but this article will focus on only two.

Found out your Skin Type

In order to find out what type of skin you have, follow these steps. First, wash your face with a skin cleanser, rinse and pat dry. Wait for one hour and note whether your skin feels tight or not.

Next, press a different piece of tissue paper on certain key areas of your face: your chin, your nose, the center of your cheeks, the outer part of you cheeks, the center of your forehead, and the outer part of your forehead. Look at the tissue and check for oily residue or flaky skin residue.

It is believed that you have dry skin if each tissue paper has flaky skin residue. If each piece of tissue paper has oily residue, then you are considered to have oily skin. Having discovered your skin type will leave you better equipped to pick the right skin care routine for your skin. This includes finding the right skin products and acne products.

Skin Care Tips for Dry and Oily Skin

You should be careful when treating dry skin. Usually this skin type is sensitive to products that contain fragrances and other fillers. This is exactly why you should avoid using these types of products.

Dry skin care should use a cream or oil cleanser followed by a moisturizer. Exfoliation is also an important step for dry skin. You can exfoliate by using natural products such as milk or grape juice for a gentler exfoliation.

Oily skin care also requires the 3 basic levels of skin care: cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing. Foaming cleansers work the best for this type of skin. The best type of treatment for this skin type are mechanical exfoliators and water-based moisturizers.

The Best Acne Products for Dry & Oily Skin

Acne affects both oily skin and dry skin types. The best acne creams for each skin type contain different ingredients especially catered to their necessities.

Oily skin can withstand the harsher ingredients in traditional acne products. To control acne in these skin types, make sure that your acne products contain salicylic acid, retinoids and/or benzoyl peroxide. These ingredients are idea for acne problems because they help control excess sebum production, clogged pores, and acne bacteria.

Dry skin should also be kept adequately moisturized in order to help control acne problems. Non-comedogenic oils that won't irritate your skin are castor oil and olive oil. Instead of products with benzoyl peroxide, try using creams containing tea tree oil.

For acne skin care to be successful, it must be catered to each type of skin. Natural products such as BIOSKINCLEAR and BIOACNECARE are wonderful treatments for acne because they are both gentle and effective. These natural skin care creams are made with biological ingredients that have proven effective in the fight against acne. The best part is, they are gentle on your skin and won't produce any harmful side-effects.
